PRIVATE SAFARIS / EAST AFRICA

Tanzania at the heart. East Africa beyond.

Private, tailor-made safaris. Thoughtfully planned across Tanzania and East Africa, with room for the unexpected.

begin here.

Swahili for rhinoceros.
THE KIFARU WAY

We don’t begin
with an itinerary.

first, how should Africa feel?

We begin with the traveller.

A first safari. More time with your children. A photograph you have imagined for years. Or simply a few days somewhere wonderfully remote.

From Arusha, we turn that starting point into a journey that works on the ground. The right regions for the season. Realistic travel time. Camps chosen for the experience. And enough room for Africa to surprise you.

TANZANIA TIME / EAT
--:--
the bush has its own time

A leopard does not appear
because the itinerary says --:--.

Wildlife has its own rhythm. Good safari planning leaves time to follow it: a second night in a rewarding place, an unhurried morning, a drive that changes with the light.

We plan the route carefully so that the days themselves can breathe.

FIELD NOTE / 01

Four things.
Then a route.

itinerary comes later.
01
Land

Baobab country, highlands, grasslands and ocean. The landscape shapes how you travel, and what a day feels like.

02
Season

Rain, wildlife movements and camp locations change through the year. February and August call for different journeys.

03
Pace

Realistic distances. Time to settle in. Another night where it matters. A good route gives you room to enjoy it.

04
You

Your interests, family, comfort and curiosity. A first safari and a fifth safari should feel different.

OUR HOME / TANZANIA

One country.
Many versions of wild.

Serengeti, Ngorongoro, Tarangire. The northern circuit is an extraordinary beginning, but Tanzania has many other stories.

Ruaha and Nyerere bring a different rhythm. The west rewards those prepared to go further. Zanzibar changes the final days completely. We choose the Tanzania that fits you.

TARANGIRE / NORTHERN TANZANIA
don’t make this a one-night stop.
SAFARI IDEAS

A starting point.
Never a fixed package.

A few journeys to open the conversation. Dates, camps, duration and the route itself can all change around you.

JOURNEY 01 / 8–10 DAYS

Classic Northern Tanzania

Tarangire, Ngorongoro and the Serengeti, with enough time to experience the transitions between them. A strong first safari, but never a generic one.

Add the coast. Stay longer in the Serengeti. Slow it down for children. Build it around photography. This is the framework, not the finished journey.

I’d keep one more night for the Serengeti.
JOURNEY 02 / THE MIGRATION

The herds are moving.

The Great Migration is not one event in one place. It is an ongoing movement through the greater Serengeti ecosystem, shaped by rainfall, grazing and instinct.

A migration safari therefore begins with when you are travelling. We position the route around seasonal patterns rather than sell the same Serengeti itinerary all year.

the migration doesn’t read calendars.
GUIDING MATTERS

The guide changes everything.

The best guides read far more than tracks. They notice weather, calls and behaviour. They know when to switch off the engine, and when an apparently quiet patch of bush deserves another ten minutes.

A private safari gives you that freedom. Photographers can wait. Families can shorten a drive. Birders can stop for something everyone else drove past.

sometimes the best decision is to stay exactly where you are.
look a little closer.
EAST AFRICA / THE KIFARU ATLAS

Find the place
before the route.

Tanzania is home. Kenya, Uganda and Rwanda bring other landscapes, other encounters and other ways of moving through East Africa.

Follow what draws you in. The route comes later.

WHERE YOU STAY

Comfort,
with a sense of place.

A beautiful lodge matters. Where it sits matters even more.

A small tented camp in the Serengeti. A private villa for your family. Simple comfort in exactly the right place. We choose stays around the season and the flow of your journey.

right camp, right place.
FROM THE FIELD

Things worth knowing
before you travel.

Notes from the field on seasons, routes and the details that can change a safari.

FIELD NOTE / MIGRATION

The Great Migration does not follow a calendar.

Why rainfall matters more than a date printed in an itinerary.

FIELD NOTE / TARANGIRE

Why Tarangire deserves more than one night.

A park that often becomes a transfer stop when it should be part of the story.

FIELD NOTE / COAST

Safari and Zanzibar: finding the right balance.

How to let the final days change the pace without making the coast feel bolted on.

WHY TRAVEL WITH KIFARU?

Depth over
checkboxes.

We’d rather make fewer choices well than add more stops for the sake of an itinerary.

01

Based in Tanzania

Planned from Arusha, with a practical understanding of seasons, distances and the people delivering your safari.

02

Made around you

We use sample journeys as inspiration, not templates. Dates, interests, family dynamics, pace, accommodation and budget can all change the shape of the route.

03

Honest advice

Another park is not always an improvement. Another flight is not always worth it. Good planning sometimes means taking something out.

04

People make the journey

A safari is shaped by guides, camp teams and local relationships as much as by the places on the map. We design with those human details in mind.

HOW WE WORK

The route takes shape
through conversation.

You do not need to arrive with the answer. A month, a rough duration and a sense of what matters to you is enough to begin.

01

Begin the conversation

Tell us when you are thinking of travelling, who is coming and what is drawing you to East Africa. We ask questions before we prescribe a route.

02

Shape the journey

We match the season, geography, camps and logistics to the traveller. Then we turn those decisions into a first route worth discussing.

03

Refine the details

We adjust the pace, accommodation and experiences together until the journey feels right rather than merely complete.

Let’s build
your journey.

You do not need a finished itinerary. Tell us when you are thinking of travelling, who is coming and what matters most to you. We will help with the rest.

Elegance. Untamed.
